Sacramentum — Latin for "a sign of the sacred." Seven such signs mark a Catholic life, from the water of Baptism to the anointing of the sick, each one carrying God's grace from His hands into ours.
Sacraments of Initiation
Baptism
Baptism involves dying to the fallen world and rebirth into God's kingdom. Parents wishing to baptise their child are asked to attend a preparation meeting beforehand. Please contact the Parish Priest or Parish Deacon to arrange this.
Eucharist
The Eucharist is at the heart of the Church's life. Believers receive the body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ. First Communion programmes for children aged 7+ run from September through to Summer, and include parent meetings, children's sessions, communal celebrations and family activities.
Confirmation
Confirmation perfects the grace received at Baptism. The programme is for those aged 14+ (Year 10) and involves a series of meetings and a weekend retreat.
Sacraments of Healing
Reconciliation
Also known as Confession, Reconciliation is a healing sacrament through which God's forgiveness is given to those who are truly sorry for their sins. Times for Confession are available before weekend Masses — please see the weekly newsletter for details.
Anointing of the Sick
The Anointing of the Sick brings God's healing power to those who are seriously ill or preparing for surgery. Please contact the parish if you or a loved one would benefit from this sacrament.
Sacraments of Vocation & Communion
Marriage
Marriage is a covenant that mirrors Christ's love for the Church. Preparation is offered through Marriage Care. Please contact us well in advance of your intended date.
Holy Orders
Holy Orders is the sacrament of ordained ministry — priesthood and diaconate. Those who feel called to explore a vocation are encouraged to speak with the Parish Priest or contact the Diocesan Vocations Director, Rev Con Foley:
